Training Things to Know

Transportation

Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport – Major airlines that fly into our airport daily include American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta. The airport is located 12 miles from our facility but centrally located to hotels, restaurants and other activities. The airport code is ROA.

Class begins Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. Please plan to arrive on Sunday. If you are flying, please do not book a return flight before 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Transportation is not provided to and from class. If you fly into Roanoke there are rental car agencies near the baggage claim area. Agencies located at the airport are:

Accommodations

Hotel accommodations need to be made by the student and is not included in the training class fee. We have a Residence Inn by Marriott in town that can provide all the comforts of home while attending our training class. You can choose their Studio Suite that comes with a fully equipped kitchen and wireless internet in addition to the spacious suite. We know that being away from home for a week can be difficult and hope that the amenities Residence Inn offers will help make you comfortable while you are in town.

  • You are not required to stay at Residence Inn. We felt this was the best hotel available where students would be most comfortable. There is a Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn & Suites and Holiday Inn close to the airport.

Meals

Breakfast is included with your hotel rate. Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen so feel free to do a little grocery shopping and eat breakfast in your suite if you prefer.

Lunch is provided by First Call Parts and brought in from local restaurants. You will be given the opportunity to select from their menu at the start of each class. Food will be delivered to the lunch room area of the training class.

Dinner is on your own. There are numerous restaurants around the hotel:

TGI Friday’s
Longhorn Steak House
Olive Garden
Chick-Fil-A

Each student is invited to attend a social at the hotel Monday – Wednesday evenings. Mondays they feature sips and snacks. Tuesdays, they grill and Wednesday they feature local food trucks (guest purchase), restaurant pop-in tastings or dessert. This is a relaxing way to spend an evening with other students.
